Autec Health and Safety Training Courses

Training courses available
7 days per week

These courses are intended for all operators or trainees who are 16 years of age and over, who are medically fit, and need to operate construction plant and machinery during the normal course of their work.

Clients and employers are demanding proof of competency from all operatives on their sites. A more competent workforce will also make the industry more efficient and create a safer working environment for all.

An NPORS, EITO or CPSC card proves to employers that you have both the skills and the practical experience to do the job safely and effectively.

NPORS Accreditation

National Plant Operators Registration Scheme. NPORS provide Autec with the ability to train and test both at your workplace, (training with your own equipment) or at our purpose built training site in Peterborough.

EITO Accreditation

European Independent Training Organisation. EITO is Autec’s very own card scheme, started in 1996, with now over 20,000 cards in circulation. This has provided our clients with a cost effective ‘proof of training’ operator card that is accepted by the HSE.

CPCS Accreditation

Construction Plant Competence Scheme. If you require a CPCS card, Autec can provide you with the specific training required before taking the CPCS test.

To provide proof of the qualifications you have, the back of your card will list all the categories of plant which you are qualified to operate.

Autec Plant Training Key Benefits

Course Objectives

On completion of the Construction Plant courses, participants will understand and be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Excavator use.
  • Prepare the machine for use and operate safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Environmental considerations.
  • Storage and transport of implements and attachments
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.

Course Duration

The duration of machine training depends on previous experience, if any. There is no minimum course duration. If you have had plenty of past experience on the machine and you hold a site safety awareness certificate, which has been obtained within the last 2 years, you may be able to complete an achievement test on the machine immediately. Alternatively you may only need part or a full days training on the machine. Operators with limited experience on the machine would need more training; this depends on ability, but is usually 2 – 4 days. Novice operators with little or no experience would need to complete a foundation course. The duration again depends on ability, this is up to the instructor’s discretion, but is usually 5 – 10 days (including test).
