Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPS)

MEWPs are widely used in industry, often in place of ladders and tower scaffolds. Operators are sometimes asked to use them without any formal training, and therefore may not be aware of the safety precautions required, nor the capabilities or limits of the machine.

Course Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will understand and be able to demonstrate the following:

• Use the MEWP correctly and safely
• Barriers and signs required
• Safety legislation applicable to the operation of MEWPs
• Charging the battery
• Basic types and specifications of MEWPs
• Safe working at height
• Safe working load
• Emergency lowering procedure
• Outriggers and stabilisers
• Practical Assessment where applicable
• Theoretical test
