Safe Erection, Inspection and Use

This course is aimed at users of prefabricated tower scaffolds. It  will also help those who select and specify equipment.

Tower scaffolds are widely used and are involved in numerous accidents each year. These usually happen because the tower is not properly erected, used or maintained.

Course Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will understand and be able to  demonstrate the following:

• Identify their responsibilities under current legislation
• Conduct a safety check on tower scaffold
• Duties of the erector/operator
• Position a tower correctly and safely
• Safety precautions of using tower scaffold
• Identify the SWL of the tower: persons and materials
• Daily checks and maintenance requirements
• Barriers and signs required
• Safety legislation applicable to the erection and use of towers
• Safe working at heights
• Emergency procedures
• Outriggers and stabilisers
• Practical Assessment

Course Aim

Candidates will be able to erect, use and  dismantle a tower scaffold safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and accepted good practice.
